Some of the Missionary Sisters of Mary Mother of the Church, “sharing with gentleness the hope that is in their hearts.”
Today, on this 59th World Communication Day, June 1, 2025, we appreciate the great seed our Founder Bishop Caesar Asili sowed, when he impeded Social Communication as one of the five tools for our mission: Education, Health, Social Communication, Catechesis, and Social Action. “With the tools of social communication you will go far within a limited time, as you share your faith with the people God … the pen is a mighty warrior,” he said.
Even today, your possibility of reading this article is the dream of our founder who was inspired by the Vatican II documents on Social Communication. “…Chief among them are those of communication which of their nature can reach and influence not merely single individuals but the very masses and even the whole human society,” Inter Mirifica, 218, pg. 60, Church & Social Communication, Basic Documents, Second Edition, Introduced and edited by Franz-Josef Eilers, SVD, 1997
The works of the Pauline sisters too inspired him. Once upon a time, he sent some of the members of Missionary Sisters of Mary Mother of the Church to have experience with the Daughters of St. Paul in Kampala-Uganda.
As we trace the Founder’s legacy, we are reminded about this year’s World Day of Communication theme: “Share with gentleness the hope that is in your hearts.” (Cf. I Peter 3:15-16). We believe when our Founder Bishop Asili was inspired in the 1960s, when the institute was but just a dream, he foresaw in hope the fruits social communication would yield while enhancing the missionary apostolate.
Be blessed dear reader, members of the media fraternity and the people of God as we create the network through the media apostolate and widen the tents while striving to make the world a better place.
