In her address, Mother Sophia Asiimwe reminded the sisters that like Moses, each one is called personally by God. “You are also standing on the holy ground and being called to remove the shoes of negative aspects of life: Bitterness, selfishness, fear, pride, sickness...

This calls for divine exchange; trading off the negative aspects for: sweetness, selflessness, courage, humility, good health and the like. A Convent is a holy ground because consecrated people live in it. For 49 years we have experienced God’s presence on this ground!”

She also added that by choosing the title Missionary sisters of Mary Mother of the Church, the founder intended that the sisters dedicate themselves for the continuity of the redemptive mission of Christ in the spirit of motherhood and compassion.

In the same vein, Bishop Sanctus Lino Wanok of Lira Diocese reminded the congregation that the Church in Lira is held on three pillars: The Diocese of Lira, the Missionary Sisters of Mary Mother of the Church and the Missionaries of Jesus the Divine Master.

“You cast out the demons as Jesus did in the mission. Redeem and liberate the people by starting with yourself. Be at the cross to plead so that Christ Must Reign,” Bishop Sanctus remarked.
